Steamboat Days selects Harbormasters for 2017

Monday night Mayor Steve Baumgart was interrupted as he tried to adjourn the Goodview City Council meeting. Steamboat Days committee members, Past Harbormasters and a flood of friends entered the small Goodview Council meeting room. Al Mulyck, half the 2016 Harbormaster team, was instructed to “cap” the 2007 Harbormaster. As he approached Steve to cap him, Irene Mulyck, the other half of the 2016 Harbormaster team, turned to cap Mary Baumgart. Ryan Buehler, Steamboat Days Vice President, then announced that the Winona Steamboat Days Harbormasters for 2017 are Steve and Mary Baumgart!

Steve and Mary were nominated by friends Beth and Bill Moe “because they are one of those couples who make the community better by working as a team.” Steve and Mary are active in Pleasant Valley Church, they helped develop Celebrate recovery, are on the Board for Hope Harbor, they are a team for the Winona County Drug Court just to touch on a few of the organizations they willing give their time to.

Steve is currently Mayor of Goodview and a former Deputy in the Winona County Sheriff’s Department. Mary spent her career as a Public Health Nurse. Steve and Mary had been married for 41 years and have two children, Erick and Julie and 4 grandchildren.

You will see Steve and Mary at a variety of Steamboat Days events including the Kiddie parade on Friday, June 16th and the Grande Parade Sunday, June 18th.
