Miss Winona Scholarship Pageant

Shelby Siemek was crowned Miss Winona 2011 Saturday evening, June 10th during the 66th Annual Miss Winona Scholarship Pageant at the Masonic Theatre. Siemek will be a junior at St. Mary’s University this fall; her major is marketing. Siemek chose “BuckleUp; Arrive Alive” as her platform. She sang “Ave Maria” in the Talent portion of the pageant. Siemek received a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by local individuals and businesses, engraved silver plate compliments of 1st Place Trophies, a floral bouquet compliments of Flowers on Broadway and sash compliments of The Print House.

The Spirit Award recipient was Stephanie Kostuck. Kostuck is a recent graduate of Winona State University where she majored in Elementary Education. For her talent Kostuck performed a song and dance to “I Can’t Do It Alone” from Chicago Musical. Her platform is Life Long Literacy. Kostuck was awarded a $100.00 scholarship sponsored by local individuals and businesses, engraved silver plate compliments of 1st Place Trophies, floral bouquet compliments of Flowers on Broadway and a sash compliments of The Print House.

Nicole Young, a senior at Winona State University majoring in Mass Communications / Public Relations, along with Kostuck, will serve as Miss Winona Attendants for 2011. Each will receive a $300 scholarship, an official Miss America Crown Pin and floral bouquets compliments of Flowers on Broadway. “Shatter the Silence: Assault Awareness and Survivor Empowerment” is the title of Young’s platform. Bill Lanik served as Master of Ceremonies and members of Gotta Dance provided entertainment. Jonathan McKenzie and Kelsi Rose were also crowned as Captain and Mate 2011.
