John Kennedy was nominated because of his outgoing, friendly personality, with a wonderful sense of humor and his concern and contributions to the Winona Community.

John is the original founder of the Winona Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. John hs continued his commitment to BBBS and is on their Board of Directors and very active in all aspects of the organization.

John is an avid guitar player and has performed as a solo artist and with a variety groups, including playing for the Community Theater. He is an active and important part of the men’s group at his church.

John does find time to work and is a Financial Representative at Northwestern Mutual in Winona.

Each summer, he and his wife Cindy bicycle more than 1,000 miles all in their favorite community - Winona! John also likes to follow the musical progress of his son, Reed, who lives in St. Paul. John’ other loves outside of his family and BBBS are gardening and travel.

John has gone black berry picking for 50 summers in a row. (How is that possible for one so YOUNG!!!)

As Harbormaster John will preside over Steamboat Days. His first duty will be to participate in the Steamboat Days button run Friday, May 29th. Everyone is invited to attend The Steamboat Days Kick off event and Harbormaster Celebration to Honor John on Wednesday June 17th at 5pm at the Beverage Garden.
