Winona Steamboat Days Captain and Mate

The Winona Steamboat Days Festival Committee selected by drawing the Captain and Mate for 2009 as part of the Kiddie Parade at Lake Park Friday, June 19th. The 2009 Captain is Nicholas Moss, 5 year old son of Nicole and Kevin and the 2009 Mate is Alison McElmury, 4 year old daughter of Donna and Jason. Both are students of Central Elementary School.

As Captain and Mate Nicholas and Alison and their Crew will ride in the Steamboat Days Grande Parade Sunday, June 21.

Finalist couples for Captain and Mate included Joseph Costello son of Stacy and Mike, and Olivia Gardner daughter of Cathy and Chris; Aurora Magnuson daughter of Michelle and David and Izaac Teig son of Jessica and Tim; Troy Bork son of Jackie and Patrick and Phoebe Kropuenske daughter of Coe and Matthew; and Sophia Moe daughter of Amy and Rick and Avery Prodzinski son of Darci and Brian.

The Captain and Mate and each member of their Crew received a Trophy to commemorate their participation in the Steamboat Days 2009 event and a Happy Meal Certificate courtesy of MacDonald’s of Winona. The Captain vest and Mate sash are courtesy of Quality Vac and Sew.
